Roseville, MN (September 16, 2010) -- Builders were pleased to see plenty of Twin Cities families out touring new homes during the first weekend of the Parade of HomesSM. Even better, one builder reported five new home sales and several more in the works. “We’re excited with the kickoff of the Parade of HomesSM, and seeing more traffic” explained Mike Swanson, Vice President with Rottlund Homes. “With housing affordability incredibly high coupled with interest rates at all time lows, people have realized that there is no better time to buy than now. They’re taking this opportunity to get a durable, efficient home of their own.”
The Twin Cities is one of the brighter spots nationally for home construction, as is noted in an article from Hanley Woods’ Housing Intelligence report. Housing IntellegencePro examined new home closings and unemployment rate, state-by-state, and ranked Minnesota as number one. “We looked at states which had at least 1500 new home closings during the second quarter of this year, and ranked them according to an average of year-over-year closing gain and unemployment rate rankings. The result is a combination of the best performing states in terms of jobs and new home sales.”
Even the Wall Street Journal recognizes the benefits of home ownership in their September 16th article, 10 Reasons to Buy a Home.” Twin Cities families seem to agree. They can tour over 325 new homes again this weekend and through October 3rd during the 62nd Parade of Homes Fall ShowcaseSM. All homes are open Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 6:00 pm. Information about all the homes is included in a free Guidebook available at all area Holiday Stationstores and online.
