Roseville, MN (September 15, 2010) —The Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) has announced the hiring of David Siegel as their new Executive Director, the top staff position for the local Home Builders Association. Siegel joins the association September 15, 2010
Gary Aulik, 2010 BATC President reports, “David has managed several trade associations, and has led Hospitality Minnesota through this most challenging economy, making difficult decisions that ensured the future of the industry's three trade associations. He brings energy, passion and experience and we're really looking forward to a strong future for BATC with David.”

Siegel was selected after a comprehensive search process identified him as the best candidate for the job. He comes to BATC with more than 22 years of experience in Association management, the last 12 as chief staff officer.
Most recently, Siegel has served as Executive Vice President of the Minnesota Restaurant, Lodging and Resort and Campground Associations, three independent trade associations that formed their own management company and are collectively managed by Hospitality Minnesota. Siegel served as the President & CEO of the management company as well. In addition to the three Associations and their management company, the collective operated a nonprofit foundation and a political action committee.
Key areas of focus at the Minnesota Restaurant, Lodging and Resort & Campground Associations were enhancement of a consumer-facing website and a member-oriented website, an industry trade show, lobbying, education and information. While at the Associations' helm, Siegel led the development of quarterly four-color industry trade magazines, successfully merged two competing associations in the lodging industry, created well-regarded industry awards programs and built a strong state-wide grassroots network of industry operators. He also oversaw the development of a new dividend-based workers compensation program.
Prior to his service at Hospitality Minnesota, Siegel was the Executive Director of the Maine Innkeepers Association for five years. And he got his start in Association management as the Communications Director of the organizations he later managed, the Minnesota Restaurant, Lodging and Resort & Campground Associations.
After 22 years in association management in the hospitality field, Siegel was ready to take his skills to a new industry. “First, I believe that Associations are core to the effective operation of a democracy. I am passionate about associations and their role in our society. And second, I believe home building is an industry that is core to a successful economy in our country. Helping people achieve their dream of owning a home by working for this association is something I am truly passionate about,” Siegel said.
Siegel is a past president of the Maine Society of Association Executives and the International Society of Hotel Association Executives. Up until his departure from his recent Associations, he served on the Board of Directors of the Council of State Restaurant Associations, and was seated on the Explore Minnesota Tourism Council and the University of Minnesota Tourism Center Advisory Board.
In addition to his many years of Association management experience, Siegel has served as a newspaper reporter in International Falls, MN; reporter and managing editor for a chain of Twin Cities suburban weekly papers and a public information coordinator for the public schools. He has obtained his Certified Association Executive designation and is a graduate of the Institutes of Organizational Management.
